Technology Project Manager, Legal Operations

Capital One Legal Operations is dedicated to enabling the Capital One Legal Department to be a best in class in-house counsel office for a Financial Services and Technology company. The Legal Operations team aims to accomplish this goal by focusing on three key areas: 1) efficient processes and current technology; 2) easy access to data analytics and reporting, and 3) a robust supplier management program. The Legal Operations team is looked to as thought leaders, problem solvers, and strategic partners for the Capital One Legal Department.

Capital One Legal Operations is seeking a new member to join the team! This role will provide experience in process management, project management, and technology. This is a great opportunity for any professional seeking to grow their experience in the legal technology and legal operations fields.

The position will primarily support Legal Innovations, where the candidate will leverage both broad-based knowledge of available technologies and problem-solving skills to innovate, build, and improve business processes across the Legal Department. Legal Innovations works regularly with our internal Tech team to build, enhance, or purchase technology tools to enhance how we work as a department.

Job responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute projects, including: develop project plans, manage project schedules, maintain project documentation, identify risks, and facilitate project meetings

  • Ensure project deliverables, timelines and budgets are met

  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders

  • Understand customer needs and provide appropriate solutions to achieve the desired outcome

  • Assess and prioritize both in-flight and future technology work

  • Assist with process improvement projects across the Legal Department

  • Provide support and training to users on process updates and new technology

  • Serve as an empathetic voice of the customer for our Legal Teams and Associates

  • Develop expertise in the legal technology industry and serve as a subject matter expert and consultant for the

    Legal Department

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience leveraging Agile principles for product development and delivery

  • The ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment to meet deadlines

  • Detail orientation and organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills

  • A professional demeanor and strong relationship management skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in project management and delivery of those projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in technology-focused project management and delivery of those projects

  • 1-2 years of Business Process Management experience

  • Certification in Agile, Business Process Management, or Project Management

  • Ability to navigate easily between technology and business topics

  • Strong curiosity in technology and an understanding of major technology trends

  • Passion in assessing emerging digital tools and technology
