Position Summary:
The Lionel Hampton School of Music's Instructor-Violin/Viola Studio and Orchestra position is a temporary, non-tenure-track, nine-month appointment starting Fall 2019. This position teaches violin/viola individual instruction of music majors and minors at both undergraduate and graduate levels, teaches music education courses in the string area and conducts the University Orchestra.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a scholarly research and/or creative activity agenda
  • Serve as faculty liaison for the dual credit orchestra in Coeur d'Alene, ID and the recruitment of students at various regional high schools
  • Participate in School of Music, CLASS and University committees and events, and advise students.

  • Studio Instruction: Violin/Viola

Teaching assignments are subject to change and will be based on LHSOM needs and enrollments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Music from an accredited institution. ABD will be considered if degree requirements are completed by August, 2019.
  • Record of successful violin/viola studio instruction.
  • Record of
    successful orchestral conducting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Emphasis in string music education.
  • Multiple areas of teaching expertise.
  • Record of success as an instructor at the college level.
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills with flexible attitude and ability to work successfully as a team player.
