General Summary:

The Collections Clerk at Borland Groover is a part of the Collections team. The general duty of this position is to collect money from patients for balances owed to the clinic.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Answer incoming patient calls
  • Make outgoing calls to patients to collect on accounts
  • Make outgoing calls to insurance companies regarding patient accounts
  • Run statements, as well as mail statements
  • Work return mail and return checks
  • Post personal payments to the appropriate accounts
  • Cover the Financial Counselor when needed
  • Confirmation calls to patients regarding upcoming appointments
  • Adjusting patient accounts by adding insurances and/or billing the insurance company
  • Pre-list accounts that are sent to bad debt
  • Correspondence
  • This job requires access to Personal Health Information (PHI), HIPAA
    training is required, and HIPAA compliance is expected
  • Other duties assigned

Education and Experience:

High School diploma required. Previous experience in collections preferred, but not necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk and sit for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Ability to see within normal parameters.
  • Ability to hear within normal range.
  • Ability to use hands, arms and legs within specifications of the job
