We are looking for a 1st Shift Forklift Driver in our Muscatine, IA location. The 1st Shift Forklift Driver is responsible for operating a forklift for the purpose of loading and unloading trucks, moving, locating, stacking, and counting merchandise to meet company standards for safety, security, productivity, and food safety.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Unloads inbound shipments, verifying merchandise matches shipping documents. Moves merchandise to storage properly documenting put away locations and reporting any shipment discrepancies.
- Constructs cardboard totes.
- Picks orders and prepares for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product is ready for shipment. Properly loads shipments.
- Locates and re-locates merchandise allowing for the best space utilization and picking efficiencies.
- Keeps accurate records of stock moves, receipts, and shipments for reporting to warehouse office personnel.
- Operates warehouse equipment in a safe and efficient manner to eliminate personal injuries, merchandise damage, and damage to the warehouse.
- Operates various types of attachments and equipment required to handle merchandise.
- Inspects forklifts on a daily basis to identify any potential problems with the equipment and reporting these potential problems to Operations Supervisor. Perform minor maintenance to forklifts that can be accomplished with the tools available.
- Performs or assists in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance. Understands the importance to participate in sanitation, pest control, and all other actions that promote food safety within the warehouse operation.
- Supports the company goals, mission, and growth by representing GSTC positively to potential employment candidates, customers, and community members when appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Education, experience and skills: A Warehouse Operator should have prior experience driving a forklift or prior exposure to a warehouse environment. All personnel that operate a forklift will receive training prior to operating a forklift. Accuracy and attention to detail is an especially critical skill as it pertains to inventory transactions and insuring inventory accuracy. Must be able to do basic math computation of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Must be able to get along with co-workers that allows for a pleasant team-oriented work environment.
Physical, mental, and environmental requirements: The Warehouse Operator position requires constant getting on and off a forklift, stooping, walking and lifting a minimum of 50 and maximum of 60 pounds. Must be able to maintain a high level of concentration while operating a forklift and documenting inventory transactions. Some problem-solving ability is necessary as variables present themselves such as space utilization tasks. The warehouse environment can be dusty, dry, and humid, with temperature ranges between 40 - 90 degrees. Some odors might be present depending upon the product in storage. Food allergens may be present in the warehouse.
