Overview:
Scope of Position: Process income from all Corps and Area Services into the accounting package while adhering to The Salvation Army’s accounting policies and procedures.Responsibilities:
Location: Divisional Headquarters, Finance Department (Hartford, CT)
Hours Per Week: 37.5
Schedule: Mon-Fri; 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Scope of Position: Process income from all Corps and Area Services into the accounting package while adhering to The Salvation Army’s accounting policies and procedures.
- Apply accounting principles and practices following standardized, well-established procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
- Institute safeguards to ensure the integrity and maintenance of the accounting system.
- Assist with the preparation of financial-related materials for audits.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures.
- Input financial-related data into computer systems and maintain financial reports and records related to programs.
- Maintain and oversee the maintenance of financial documents.
- Assist in the review and reconciliation of credit card transactions.
- Provide support in planning, executing, and monitoring of financial projects and initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze incoming data streams to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
- Always maintain strict confidentiality.
- Record and post income into the computer system and generate income receipts.
- Provide coverage for the Accounts Payable Clerks.
- Associate degree in Accounting/Business Management or three years of experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
- Should be well organized, show strong initiative, and adequate follow through.
- Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
