Overview
The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive mental health care to patients across various settings. This position involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with mental health disorders, while also collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care. The PMHNP will utilize their expertise in psychiatric nursing to develop treatment plans and provide education to patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' mental health status and history.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Prescribe medications and monitor their effectiveness and side effects.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling to individuals, families, and groups.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate care for patients with complex needs.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulations.
