Job Description
Parker LORD is seeking an experienced and dynamic Strategic Sourcing & Materials Manager to join their Noise, Vibration, and Harshness Division’s - Aerospace & Defense Business Unit.
In this position, you will be responsible for optimizing business unit supply chain processes, enhancing supplier relationships, and implementing best practices to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic sourcing and materials management, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. This position reports directly to the Global Supply Chain Manager, with matrix reporting to the Aerospace & Defense Business Unit Manager.
Lead and manage all strategic sourcing and materials management activities, including order placement, supplier reduction, evaluation, certification, follow-up, price negotiation, and compliance with government procurement regulations.
Manage the Aerospace & Defense Business Unit’s overall strategic production planning practices, considering both short-term and long-term production requirements while integrating materials availability. These activities must support business unit sales and objectives and maintain 100% on-time customer deliveries. Ensure personnel involved with the MRP database maintain a high degree of data accuracy, integrity, and ownership.
Establish preferred supplier selection criteria based on evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations.
Accountable for multi-site supply chain metrics and performance standards for the Aerospace & Defense Business Unit. Drive and improve daily KPIs for each function and ensure tactical execution of the supply chain strategy.
Ensure all business unit materials management policies align with the division’s inventory control objectives.
Facilitate purchasing and materials initiatives, including common part numbers, supplier-managed inventory, consolidated purchasing agreements, supplier reduction, and supplier quality certifications.
Support internal and external audit requirements related to planning, procurement, or inventory control functions. Prepare and manage the department budget within established guidelines.
Effectively create and sustain procurement-to-delivery material and system cost reduction programs. Actively support and implement lean principles.
Drive and improve daily KPI's for each function and ensure tactical execution of the supply chain strategy.
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain management or other related discipline. Master's degree preferred. Ten or more years of major professional accomplishments including increasing responsibility and leadership of projects and teams of considerable size, scope and complexity for seven or more years.
Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives. Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities. Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals. Serve as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change.
Current knowledge of the latest manufacturing technology, productivity and quality measurements, and material/planning systems requiring continual review of methods to optimize productivity.
