Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering projects in support of Panasonic Avionics’ new generation of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). The TPM will manage activities across design, validation, simulation, testing, and certification documentation, working closely with cross-functional teams in the U.S. (Irvine), Japan (Osaka), and offshore engineering teams.
This role requires a strong engineering background (electrical and/or mechanical), combined with proven project/program management expertise in the avionics, aerospace, or high-reliability electronics domain.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Coordination
Manage cross-functional projects across electrical, mechanical, simulation, and documentation teams to ensure timely delivery of engineering work packages.
Coordinate with on-site (Irvine/Osaka) and offshore engineering resources, ensuring alignment on project priorities, deliverables, and schedules.
Facilitate weekly progress reviews, risk assessments, and status reporting to Panasonic Avionics APD management.
Serve as the primary interface between Panasonic engineers, suppliers, certification bodies (FAA, EASA), and OEMs.
Technical Oversight
Oversee electrical and mechanical design support activities, including schematic/PCB validation, component analysis, thermal/structural evaluation, and prototype build/bring-up.
Manage simulation workflows (SI/PI, thermal, structural) using Siemens, Ansys, HyperLynx, and other CAD/analysis tools.
Ensure effective issue tracking, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective/preventive actions in design validation and testing.
Support engineers in preparing and reviewing design documentation, test plans, analysis reports, and substantiation evidence.
Certification & Documentation
Oversee the creation of Flammability Test Plans, Structural Test Plans, and Qualification Plans for LRUs.
Coordinate substantiation and compliance activities with FAA, EASA, and OEMs; provide inputs for regulatory approvals.
Ensure engineering documentation (Drawings, BOMs, ECRs/ECOs, Converix system inputs) meets accuracy, consistency, and compliance standards.
Track and manage deliverables for substantiation, qualification, and design compliance milestones.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of experience in avionics, aerospace, or high-reliability electronics projects, with at least 3+ years in technical project management or program management roles.
Hands-on working experience of:
ECAD/MCAD tools (Siemens) for design & PDM.
Ansys for thermal/structural simulation.
Signal Integrity/Power Integrity tools (HyperLynx, SPICE, Valydate).
Strong understanding of FAA/EASA certification requirements (Flammability, Environmental, Structural).
Proven ability to manage cross-functional engineering teams across geographies (on-site + offshore).
Excellent problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments, with ability to balance technical detail with project-level oversight.
