Job Summary

We are seeking an Animal Care Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Alameda, CA.

As the Animal Care Technician I, you will provide the highest animal welfare standards and care, in addition to maintaining vivarium cleanliness.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensure high standards of animal welfare are met.
  • Provide food, water and clean housing to animals according to applicable SOPs.
  • Perform routine animal health observations.
  • Monitor temperature and humidity, reporting any issues to supervisor or manager.
  • Receive, unpack, and house animals according to SOP and Animal Receiving Form
  • Understand proper room entry order and adhere to biosafety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records organize supply areas.
  • Maintain vivarium cleanliness and waste removal in accordance with applicable SOPs.

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Care Technician I position.


  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of 0-6 months directly related laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility required.
  • BS in either animal science or life sciences preferred.
  • AALAS Certification at the ALAT level preferred.


The pay range for this position is $23-25 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, skills, certifications, and location.
