DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Information is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Athletic Director with the daily operations of the athletic department, including ensuring adherence to all College, Conference and NJCAA rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the general oversight of a highly competitive NJCAA intercollegiate athletic department with duties that may include:
- Actively participate in all college activities which lead to the recruitment, retention and completion of student-athletes
- Designs, writes, and oversees the production of weekly press releases, newsletters, media guides and game programs; gathers and complies statistical information
- Manages athletic website; publish and update game results, game stories, statistics and general information on the website as well as making sure the website is up to date with information about Apache teams, coaches, student-athletes and other activities in the athletic department
- Manages and produces content for the Apache Athletics social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram)- including creating graphics
- Manages athletic department streaming at all home athletic events
- Responds to requests for information from media personnel and the public
- Plans, coordinates, and manages special events including press conferences, press luncheons, and media days.
- Provides information to representatives of the opponent's sports information office about the team.
- Manages the press box at all home football games, including overseeing press box employees, addressing problems of media, and running live stream
- Organizes and supervises photo sessions for all sports to provide head and shoulder photos of athletes and posed action shots
- Representing the athletic program to the College's internal and external constituencies
- Assisting in home event management

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Sports Management, Public Relations, or a related field
Required Experience
Two years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Education
Master’s Degree in Communications, Sports Management, Public Relations, or a related field
Additional Preferred Job Specific Skills
- Experience in athletic administration, collegiate or professional media relations and or related environment
- Experience in desktop publishing (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.), knowledge and prior use of content management systems (CMS)- preferably on a Presto Sports website
- Candidates should have a basic understanding of and be comfortable operating in the world of athletics, sports statistics, and video production.
- An understanding of both NJCAA & NCAA rules and regulations.
