TITLE: Assistant Director of Career Development

HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

DUTIES: Reporting to the Director for Career Development, the Assistant Director of Career Development provides a full complement of career development services to University of South Florida (USF) undergraduate and graduate students across all schools and colleges as well as alumni requesting specific services.

DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director for Career Development, the Assistant Director of Career Development provides a full complement of career development services to University of South Florida (USF) undergraduate and graduate students across all schools and colleges as well as alumni requesting specific services.

Through the development and delivery of contemporary best practices and methodology in career development, work directly with students and partners with colleagues in the Career Services as well as colleagues throughout the USF community.

Development and programming of workshops, seminars, courses, and events as well as direct career counseling in the areas of career exploration, skill building, and self-assessment strategies for the pursuit of employment and/or graduate study, and overall career decision-making.

Work collaboratively with office staff, chair and serve on cross-functional teams and committees, participate in outreach efforts to departments, centers, and groups on campus as well as provide outreach to external constituents (employers, parents, alumni, friends of the University, etc.) as requested.

Supervise a graduate assistant and the Career Peers program, providing training and guidance.

Responsible for industry-specific knowledge development and information sharing, as necessary.

Responsibilities will also include designated office initiatives and program supervision as well as class-specific initiatives.

Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of student engagement strategies, marketing, and communication as well as assessment and outcome data collection.

Deliver engaging and impactful presentations to varied student groups, faculty, staff, and stakeholders.

Research global labor market trends and industry information to provide professional development to students and colleagues.

Develop and facilitate career-related workshops, seminars, classroom presentations, online workshops/presentations, programs, and events.

Develop, manage, and maintain the content for the university-wide Job Search Course, integrating NACE career readiness competencies to support a comprehensive career development process for all students.

Train and onboard team members to effectively teach Job Search Course.

Evaluate and update course content to reflect current job market trends and employer expectations.

Participate in career development services and programs for international undergraduate and graduate students including immigration regulations and work authorization processes such as OPT, CPT, H-1B, and their impact on career planning for international students.


Master’s degree in Education, Career Counseling, Career Education, or closely related field.

Five (5) years in any occupation with experience in career coaching, advising, and/or counseling.

Five (5) years in any occupation with experience in career coaching, advising, and/or counseling must include: Two (2) years in a senior career coaching/counseling level role. Experience must also include: Student career program development and delivery experience; Leadership experience in overseeing a team of career peers and graduate assistants; and Experience with career services platforms including Handshake, Focus2, GoinGlobal, CareerShift, Candid Career, and Big Interview, and experience training and supporting staff and students in using these systems effectively.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
