Centre College invites applications for the position of Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach.

Located in Danville, KY, the historic, picturesque 150-acre campus is 30 miles from Lexington, in the famed Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky.
Under supervision of the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach, provide assistance in the leadership of all coaching, recruiting, and administrative duties for a nationally competitive Division III men’s lacrosse program. Individual reports to the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach. Secondary duty to be assigned and will report the Deputy AD (or designee) in that area.
This position is a visible one that carries significant influence and thus requires strong character and work ethic.
- Assist in organizing, preparing and conducting practices, training, and competition;
- Successfully recruit student-athletes in accordance with all Centre College, Southern Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations;
- While assisting in leading, monitoring, and coordinating training and practice sessions, ensure all appropriate safety guidelines are followed;
- Assist with the holistic development of men’s lacrosse student-athletes;
- Represent the program and the College to students, parents, alumni, and the general public;
- Assist in managing the daily operations and administration facets of the men’s lacrosse program – including but not limited too – recruiting, field maintenance and set-up, and equipment maintenance;
- Actively participate in department-wide fundraising initiatives;
- Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to an inclusive academic community, fostering a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff from all social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Secondary duty to be assigned;
- Assist in all duties as assigned by the Head Coach or the Director of Athletics (or designee);
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with previous collegiate experience as a player or a coach required; previous collegiate coaching experience preferred.
- CPR, AED, and First-Aid certifications will be required upon employment;
- Valid driver’s license required prior to employment – and maintained throughout.
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport of men’s lacrosse and its playing rules;
- Ability to foster a team environment; demonstrated coaching skills in sport of lacrosse; a commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy of athletics;
- High integrity and ethical standards are required, along with enthusiasm for the mission of Centre College and Centre Athletics;
- Knowledge of NCAA and SAA rules and regulations, and a demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes are essential.
- Additional qualifications include communication skills that allow for the ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively as well as being self-motivated, positive, energetic, eager to teach, and a willingness to travel.
- Ability to foster a team environment as well as the ability and desire to work successfully within a team-oriented athletic department is essential.
- Fully embrace and practice the department’s priorities of Recruit, Educate, Train, Compete, and Inspire.
Physical Requirements:
- Moderate physical activity.
- Requires handling up to 100 pounds.
- Standing and or walking for more than four hours per day.
- Ability to drive a car.
- Visual acuity to view a screen.
- Work, as appropriate, nights and weekends.
