Position Description
We are seeking two full-time associate attorneys to join our team, focusing on New York City property tax matters, including:
- RPTL Article 7 tax certiorari litigation
- Real property tax exemptions and abatements (e.g., ICAP, 421-a, 485-x)
- Property valuation analysis and negotiations with the NYC Tax Commission, Department of Finance, and Law Department
- Court appearances and motion practice in Supreme Court proceedings
This is a communication-heavy role that also requires comfort working with financial data and property valuation metrics.
A key part of the role involves using Microsoft Excel to build and analyze property tax projection models.
You do not need to be proficient in Excel at the outset, but you must be willing and able to learn it quickly and master its use in the context of property tax analysis. Training and support will be provided.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic who is eager to apply and expand their skills in a challenging, rewarding legal environment. It offers the opportunity to grow professionally while engaging in meaningful, creative work. The position requires a commitment of a minimum of 50 hours per week, with in-office hours from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission (or pending admission) to the New York State Bar
- Strong legal writing and research skills
- Willingness to learn Excel for property tax modeling and financial analysis
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
