The Associate Designer is responsible for:
- Collaboration with the Design Team to ensure assigned tasks are completed on time.
- Applying basic design principles to produce accurate and precise design deliverables.
- Knowledgeable of transmission and distribution materials associated with basic project designs.
- Utilizing design software to create designs that are compliant with all codes and client standards.
- Performs material selection and takeoffs for basic project designs.
- Review and understand project specifications, requirements, and standards.
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure design intent is transferred to the design drawings.
- Prepare transmission or distribution drawings including but not limited to cover sheets, plan and profiles, phasing
- Maintain organized records of designs, drawings, and revisions.
- Provide quality workmanship for all projects and work performed.
- Supports a safety culture within group and demonstrates safe work practices into designs.

- Meeting deadlines set by Project Manager and/or Project Lead.
- Quality of work assignments.
- Report discrepancies in a timely manner.

- Provide suggestions to improve performance.

COMPETENCIES
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and other drafting software.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to learn transmission and distribution design software.
JOB DESCRIPTION

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Two-year Associate’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred.
- Associate’s Degree (non-technical) with minimum of 4 years work experience in a technical field or utility
- Senior Technician with completion of a technical education program.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Traveling, as required, to ensure all project requirements and deliverables are met.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
- Normal office environment. Position may require extended hours with occasional local and out-of-town traveling.

Experience
Required- A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in design in TL engineering or specialty area. Must be Proficient in utilizing AutoCAD and possess a greater understanding of drafting to support design projects.
Education
Required- Associates or better in Civil Engineering or related field
- Associates or better in CAD/ Computer Aided Draft or related field
