Are you interested in an exciting opportunity to serve as an Automotive Parts and Warehouse Specialist , supporting the automotive parts needs for a 1200 vehicle government fleet?
The Equipment Bureau within the Department of Environmental Services (DES) is seeking an innovative Specialist to provide a variety of front counter, special order, and inventory support functions. This position will be part of a team responsible for maintaining manual and automated inventory systems in the warehouse as materials are ordered, received, and dispensed. The employee will also ensure the safe and efficient storage of materials, as well as maintain warehouse item inventory.
Specific duties include:
- Receiving, distributing, and recording of parts and materials requested by technicians;
- Researching and responding to inquiries related to warehouse inventory levels;
- Using an Asset Management System (AMS) to build, download and manage warehouse inventory data reports;
- Using Microsoft Office Word to create correspondence and/or reports;
- Tracking purchasing requests for promptness and accuracy;
- Maintaining security of warehouse assets and cleanliness/organization of warehouse;
- Coordinating receipt, storage and customer notification of materials and equipment delivered to the warehouse;
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of warehouse supplies with forklift;
- Reviewing financial documents and packing slips for accuracy regarding warehouse invoices; and
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimums:
- Some experience related to warehouse operations: including receiving, storing, issuing, and buying supplies/tools, materials, parts and equipment and maintaining the associated records systems.
Substitution: Additional education may substitute for up to one year of experience.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Purchasing or warehouse management experience in an automotive or large car dealership environment;
- Handling of purchases or inventory of a variety of parts and equipment from small engine to heavy truck or heavy duty parts;
- Interacting with vendors for availability and requests for parts and/or equipment;
- Using Asset Management Systems, digital inventory supplies, or automated financial systems; and/or
- Operating a forklift in a warehouse environment and/or possession of forklift certificate.

This position requires operating a forklift to move heavy parts. Applicant must possess or be willing to obtain a Forklift Operator Certification.

Working Conditions :
- The worker may be subject to cold (below 32 degrees) for periods of more than one hour and/or temperatures above 90 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as snow, rain, hail, wind and humidity.
- The worker is subject to hazards and a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- The worker is subject to one or more of the following conditions: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation, oils, and other cutting fluids. The worker may be exposed to infectious diseases.
Physical Requirements : Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Additional Information
Work hours : Monday through Friday, Day Shift @ 6:00a.m. to 2:30p.m. This position may require being available for call-back in emergency situations.
