About Us
Alamo City Arts is a growing non-profit performing arts organization dedicated to making the arts accessible to all. Our Academy provides dance training for students of all ages and abilities, while our production side has been a cornerstone of San Antonio’s cultural landscape since 1992. We present two full-scale ballet productions annually, along with special collaborations with our resident symphony and concert band.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Ballet Teacher to join our faculty. This role is ideal for someone who loves inspiring students, values strong technique, and wants to be part of a supportive and professional artistic community.
Responsibilities
- Teach ballet classes for students ranging from children through advanced levels.
- Prepare students for auditions, performances, and company opportunities.
- Develop lesson plans that balance technical growth with artistry.
- Encourage discipline, respect, and a positive classroom environment.
- Assist with rehearsals and student preparation for productions such as The Nutcracker and spring repertory works.
- Communicate with staff, students, and families in a professional and supportive manner.
Schedule
- Classes: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (6–8 pm) and Saturday (11 am–1 pm).
- Rehearsals: Vary Friday–Sunday depending on production schedules.
- We are willing to work with candidates on scheduling needs.
Qualifications
- Strong ballet training and performance background, preferably with professional or pre-professional company experience.
- Previous teaching experience with children, teens, and advanced students.
- Knowledge of classical ballet repertoire and training methods.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and mentor dancers of all levels.
- Commitment to building community and supporting a nonprofit arts mission.
