Blunt DC is a fully licensed dispensary and cannabis lifestyle brand in Washington, DC. We’re looking for entrepreneurial, people-oriented Business Development Associates to join our team. This is a hybrid position that blends retail sales, customer education, and marketing execution—ideal for someone who loves connecting with people, driving sales, and contributing to creative brand growth initiatives.
About the Role
As a Business Development Associate, you will:
- Serve as a sales associate / “budtender”, providing exceptional customer service and product education.
- Help customers discover the right products for their needs while upselling and driving repeat sales.
- Contribute to marketing campaigns by brainstorming and executing creative ideas that build brand visibility.
- Support the company’s growth by producing content (e.g., TikToks, Instagram reels, lifestyle videos, in-store promotions) that reflect Blunt DC’s culture.
- Collaborate with management and other associates to coordinate initiatives, from in-store activations to digital marketing pushes.
- Act as a brand ambassador both in-store and online.
This role is entrepreneurial in nature—you’ll have the opportunity to bring your own ideas, launch new initiatives, and grow alongside the company.
The Third Space: DC Hashbar
In addition to dispensary operations, Blunt DC operates The Third Space, a community-oriented gathering place that includes our fully licensed consumption lounge—The DC Hashbar.
As part of this role, you will:
- Support daily operations of the DC Hashbar, ensuring a welcoming and compliant environment for customers.
- Coordinate with events and programming in the Third Space, helping bring community-driven experiences to life.
- Work with the team to execute activations, tastings, product flights, and special events in the lounge.
- Provide education and customer service for concentrates, premium flower, edibles, and accessories, while curating an elevated hospitality experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Sales & Support
- Greet and assist customers with product knowledge, education, and recommendations.
- Deliver a premium in-store shopping experience with a focus on service, upselling, and customer retention.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming environment.
- Marketing & Content
- Create social media content (TikTok, Instagram reels, lifestyle posts) to showcase products and brand culture.
- Contribute ideas to ongoing marketing campaigns, promotions, and advertising strategies.
- Support in-store activations, special events, and collaborations.
- Business Development
- Build customer relationships and drive loyalty programs.
- Provide feedback on trends, customer preferences, and new opportunities.
- Coordinate with the team on business growth initiatives.
Qualifications
We’re looking for individuals who are:
- Sales & People-Focused: Background in retail, sales, psychology, or customer service is preferred.
- Marketing-Savvy: Experience with content creation, digital marketing, or brand promotion.
- Tech-Comfortable: Able to use Microsoft Office, POS systems, and consumer apps like Instagram, TikTok, Canva, or similar tools.
- Entrepreneurial & Creative: Excited to bring new ideas, trends, and initiatives to grow the business.
- Professional & Responsible: Strong communication skills, punctuality, and ability to work in a regulated environment.
Preferred Backgrounds
- Sales, Marketing, Business Management, or Psychology
- Retail / Dispensary / Hospitality / Lifestyle Brand experience
- Familiarity with cannabis products and consumer trends
