Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our front-of-house team. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, proficiency with point-of-sale systems, and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency. As a Cashier, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, responsible for processing transactions, handling payments, and ensuring a positive checkout experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and courteously as they approach the register
- Accurately process cash, credit/debit, and mobile payments using our POS system
- Scan items, apply discounts or promotions, and verify price accuracy
- Count back change and provide receipts to customers
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve minor issues, and escalate concerns to management as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including restocking bags and supplies
- Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, reporting any discrepancies
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth flow between front-of-house and other departments
- Follow all cash-handling policies and safety protocols to protect company assets
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Cashier or in a customer-facing retail role
- Strong numerical ability and attention to detail for accurate transaction handling
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer operations
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a friendly demeanor
- Solid understanding of customer service principles and best practices
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
