Position Purpose
Responsible for leading wine category analytics initiatives with internal and external partners to strengthen Delicato’s position of category leadership. Using data analytics, consumer/shopper insights, and category expertise, this position will identify opportunities and make recommendations to drive growth. Key to the role will be the development of strong business relationships with assigned customers in an advisor role to recommend actions to grow category sales.
***This is a remote based position, but the candidate must reside on the East Coast***
Functional Responsibility
Essential Duties
- Leads wine category analytic projects to support the CSI and Strategic Accounts teams in the areas of product assortment, shelf sets, promotions, pricing, and other opportunities
- Utilizes all available data sources, including store level data, shopper insights, and category expertise to develop analyses and make shelf/adjacency/assortment recommendations to maximize wine category sales
- Establishes a leadership position and builds collaborative relationships with key customers, and influences through the development and presentation of compelling category strategies and insights
- Contributes to the development of category leadership strategy in partnership with internal stakeholders
- Consults with and trains internal team on assortment and space analytics, software/tools, and best practices
- Advises internal and external partners on new items, deletes, and planner recommendations
- Collaborates with the CSI and Strategic Accounts teams on key customer insights and opportunities
- Communicates insights in a clear and concise manner that allow key stakeholders to quickly grasp the actions and set appropriate strategies
- Assists Strategic Analytics team on custom projects supporting our brand strategies and key sales objectives including making actionable recommendations
- Remains aware of inventory levels to ensure product availability to support current programming
- Increases level of wine knowledge through continuous education

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business with a Sales, Marketing or Statistics concentration
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant business analysis experience required, with a focus on category management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to travel to attend retailer/distributor meetings, sales meetings, and/or market visits
- Fluent in Nielsen/IRI scan data analytics, and other syndicated and custom data, developing analytic solutions to solve business issues and capitalize on growth opportunities
- Familiarity with wine industry depletion, scan, and consumer/shopper data and reporting
- Strong understanding of the CPG industry, retail channels and strategies, including expertise in category management
- A high degree of experience with space management tools (e.g. JDA)
- Expert skills in various tools and platforms required; strength in Excel, PowerPoint, multi-dimensional tables, statistical software, and the ability to report, graph and present complex information
- Excellent analytical and data management skills with the ability to deliver solutions based on objectives
- Demonstrated ability to develop internal and external business relationships, working collaboratively to define needs and objectives
- Ability to distill complex statistical concepts and methodology, and communicate insights to cross-functional teams with varying levels of understanding in this area
- Ability to effectively work and collaborate within a team structure
- Strong project management skills and ability to plan and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Solid business acumen and problem-solving skills. Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Certificates and Licenses
- Relevant Space Management or Category Management certifications highly desirable
Working Conditions
- Must be able to travel to attend sales meeting and market visits
- Requires ability to travel frequently and flexibility in schedule to work evenings and weekends as needed
- This is a remote position that requires working out of a home office

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $100,157.52 to $156,787.44. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
