Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Charge Nurse (PACU) to join our growing healthcare team. To join our growing healthcare team. This position requires critical thinking, professional judgment, and the ability to coordinate care for patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will serve as a clinical resource and demonstrate leadership in patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Lead the care team and delegate appropriately to unlicensed personnel
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and actively participate in discharge planning
- Identify safety concerns and take corrective actions; report events and near misses
- Educate patients and families based on individual readiness and care needs
- Participate in quality/process improvement projects and shared governance initiatives
- Function as a charge nurse when needed and act as a mentor or preceptor
- Coordinate patient-centered care using evidence-based practices
- Participate in professional development and complete annual competencies
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Illinois
- Current CPR and ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- 2+ years of clinical nursing experience preferred
- Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
- Comfortable with EMR systems and basic computer applications
- Ability to care for patients across the lifespan, applying age-specific knowledge
Preferred Certifications (Nice to Have):
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
