Position Summary
The Christian Education Coordinator supports the spiritual growth and faith development of all ages within the church community by planning, organizing, and implementing Christian education programs that reflect the mission and values of the United Methodist Church. This role works collaboratively with church leadership, volunteers, and families to create engaging, inclusive, and biblically grounded learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Development and Oversight
● Develop, implement, and evaluate programs for children, youth, and adults including Youth Group and Sunday School.
● Coordinate seasonal educational events such as Vacation Bible School, Advent and Lent studies, and confirmation classes.
● Select and/or create curriculum aligned with United Methodist teachings and age-appropriate developmental levels.
2. Volunteer Recruitment and Training
● Recruit, train, and support Sunday School teachers, small group leaders, and other education volunteers.
● Provide ongoing support and professional development for volunteers to ensure effective ministry.
3. Communication and Collaboration
● Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and church staff through newsletters, social media, church bulletins, and other platforms.
● Collaborate with the pastor, youth ministry leaders, and church committees to integrate education into the broader ministry of the church.
4. Administration
● Manage the education budget and purchase materials and supplies as needed.
● Maintain accurate records of attendance, volunteer participation, and program evaluations.
● Ensure all staff and volunteers follow Safe Sanctuary guidelines.
5. Faith Formation Leadership
● Serve as a spiritual role model, demonstrating Christian values in interactions and leadership.
● Encourage intergenerational learning opportunities and faith formation throughout the church calendar year.
6. Youth Leadership
● Plan activities and programming for a bi-monthly youth group.
● Organize and attend a high school youth ministry summer mission trip.
● Ability to lead volunteers and youth fundraiser events

Qualifications
● Advanced study in Christian Education, Theology, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
● A strong interest in education ministry, teaching, or program coordination.
● Organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
● Proficiency in technology and social media for ministry communication.
● Completion of Safe Sanctuary and other mandatory training (required upon hire).
Preferred Skills
● Experience with curriculum development and evaluation.
● Ability to build strong relationships across diverse age groups.
● Flexibility and creativity in adapting programs to changing church needs.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 18 per week
