This role will be based in our Wilmington, DE office. We offer a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in the office; and 1 day remote where it makes sense to do so.

Responsibilities:
As a Berkley One Claims Trainee, you will engage in a structured training program that includes classroom instruction, self-directed learning, and hands-on experience across both property and casualty claims. This comprehensive training builds foundational expertise in high-net-worth personal lines claims handling, company policies and procedures, technical claims knowledge, and the delivery of exceptional claims service.

Industry Knowledge
- Build a broad understanding of the insurance industry, market dynamics, and economic factors.
- Gain insight into WRB and Berkley One’s operations, strategic goals, financial performance, and competitive strengths.
Claims Knowledge & Technical Expertise
- Learn to manage claims effectively through coverage analysis, investigation, reserving, and resolution.
- Identify and address coverage issues, determine cause and exposure, set timely reserves, and develop comprehensive action plans.
- Validate claims through policy review and communication with policyholders, claimants, and third parties.
- Conduct research to gather supporting documentation for accurate claim evaluation and resolution.
- Draft clear and professional correspondence, including coverage position letters and Reservation of Rights.
- Maintain organized claim files and adhere to documentation standards and diary protocols.
- Proactively manage claim inventory to ensure timely and efficient resolution.
- Participate in additional projects and assignments as needed.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- Preference for insurance, risk management, and actuary majors.
- Exposure to P&C insurance through an internship or first job preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a positive, professional demeanor.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and with customers.
