As the City’s newest Community Services Coordinator, you will actively support and uphold the City’s stated mission and values. The Community Service Coordinator will lead initiatives to actively engage community members as volunteers, increase collaboration to achieve community goals, and provide meaningful stewardship opportunities. Strong communication and project management skills are required to effectively execute initiatives and measure program impacts. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Recruits, schedules, and trains new volunteers of all ages according to the volunteer project(s). This includes enforcing risk management and safety policies, reports incidents, and responds to emergency according to applicable procedures.
  • Expand community service project opportunities and increase volunteer tourism.
  • Assess individual volunteer skill levels and interests and tailors them to appropriate opportunities.
  • Maintains communications with volunteers, community partners, and neighborhood associations to stay abreast of programming needs and opportunities.
  • Works with community partners to ensure events are rooted in equity and accessibility.
  • Coordinates programs and collaborates with schools, community groups, and other agencies to maximize services and create partnerships.
  • Coordinates community service projects and groups to achieve programmatic goals, which include litter removal, debris removal, emergency response and mitigation events, and special event or large scale litter clean-up events.
  • Develops and implements community service programs in alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with local government agencies, non-profits, and other organizations to coordinate community service efforts.
  • Monitors and evaluations the effectiveness of community service projects and initiatives, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes.
  • Hosts proactive litter education for businesses, community groups, and other organizations to address litter and graffiti issue and identify best practices.
  • Assists with the maintenance of databases that accurately reflect adopted streets, FUTS, streams, volunteer hours.
  • Coordinates annual volunteer appreciation and recognition events.
  • Supports the management of city-wide volunteer software platform, volunteer records retention, contact information, and emergency information.
  • Develops annual assessment of educational and behavior change impacts of community events and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Assists in coordinating Sustainability Division’s signature community events. Acts as a representative for the Sustainability Division at community events; promoting volunteerism and provides education related to the tenants of anti-littering and anti-graffiti.
  • Supports a Keep Flagstaff Clean initiative by coordinating efforts to expand public outreach and promote greater understanding of Sustainability programs and events.
  • Assists the Emergency Management Program as needed.
  • Performs related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Two years of college/university level coursework.
  • One year of experience in project coordination experience in resource conservation and/or sustainability practices.
  • One year of volunteer management experience.
  • Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  • Two years of experience with data management.
  • Two years of experience with resource conservation and/or sustainability initiatives.
  • One year of experience coordinating community service projects.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
