POSITION SUMMARY AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This individual will work with the Community Support Services staff members and volunteers to assist clients seeking support services at the SPCA Serving Erie County. They will be responsible for responding to calls and emails from community members in need, connecting them with internal and external community resources, and scheduling appointments for humane euthanasia and animal surrender as needed. This role incorporates core social work values by providing empathetic, client-centered support, advocating for individuals in crisis, and helping navigate complex emotional and logistical challenges. The successful candidate will be able to confidently and compassionately communicate with people in crisis and over the phone, demonstrating sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs. Saturday availability is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answering and/or returning phone calls regarding general shelter inquiries, and/or general admission policies and procedures
- Interview the animal owner or individual who needs to surrender an animal to determine why the animal needs to be admitted and how to best help the owner
- Scheduling appointments, quoting fees, and contacting veterinarians for medical records when applicable
- Provide clear and concise information on intake procedures
- Communicate with and about animals who are eligible for foster placement
- Be detail-oriented, organized, and have the ability to multi-task
