Conflicts Researcher (Legal) – Remote (Must Reside in NYC, Chicago, or Los Angeles)

Position Overview:
A top-tier law firm is seeking an experienced Conflicts Researcher (Legal) to join its Risk & Compliance team. In this role, you will support the Office of the General Counsel and New Business Intake Department by conducting research and providing expert guidance on conflicts of interest, ethics, and compliance.
This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in New York City, Chicago, or Los Angeles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on corporations, agencies, and individuals using internal and external databases.
- Maintain and update corporate family trees in billing and conflicts systems.
- Review and analyze conflict reports to identify potential legal conflicts.
- Communicate results and proposed resolutions with attorneys and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Conflicts Attorneys and General Counsel on complex cases.
- Track and document all conflict resolutions with appropriate notes and details.
- Research M&A activity, bankruptcies, and other corporate events.
- Support special projects and provide ongoing risk & compliance support.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred (or 4+ years of law firm experience in lieu).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a law firm or professional services conflicts role.
- Proficiency in conflicts research software (e.g., Intapp Open).
- Intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
- Experience with legal research tools and familiarity with standard research methodologies.
