Job Description
Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren – GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
An analyst in the OnStar Digital Services (ODS) controllership team will be responsible for supporting the continuous expanding global OnStar business. GM’s ODS business unit is responsible for the sale of various connected vehicle services, including GM’s Super Cruise technology, around the globe. This role will support the various stakeholder functions in technical accounting matters specific to ODS financials
The day-to-day responsibilities of the OnStar Digital Services (ODS) Controllership analyst will include, but are not be limited to, the following:
Ensuring compliance with with ASC 606 for service contracts and other FASB accounting guidance
Providing accounting guidance to the business based on new sales strategies of the ODS services.
Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley guidance, supporting key SOX control processes, including support of SOX testing and offering consultative support to business partners for SOX and operational internal controls [Internal accounting policy manual (APM) reference APM 160]
Support of month-end accounting, including journal entry and reconciliation preparation, which requires familiarity with accounting policies specific to proper supportable documentation [Internal accounting policy manual (APM) reference APM 100, 155, 175]
Analysis of ODS Billing System reports and data to help resolve system issues and support ad-hoc inquiries
Support of financial system projects, such as general ledger migrations to new ledger systems, set-up of financials/general ledger for new ODS entities, and support of User Acceptance Testing for established system modifications
Support of statutory audit requirements for international ODS business
Review of critical contracts for technical accounting implications [Internal accounting policy manual (APM) reference APM 110]
Support as needed on special projects (e.g., conduct research on accounting issues and determine appropriate guidance, prepare accounting review memos, support team meetings, compliance with record retention and other administration, etc.)

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related
4+ years public accounting, audit, corporate accounting, or related
CPA, or equal/similar certification
Fluent in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Effective communicator, both oral and written, with an ability to simplify accounting guidance for ease of understanding with various business functions.
Able to support a fast-paced business unit, knowing how to balance priorities based on business need, time requirements, and quantitative/qualitative risk when necessary.
Proven teamwork and advanced interpersonal skills to work effectively with different teams
Motivated to take on broad challenges and, through independent professionally developed analysis, identifies and analyses options, and breaks them down into initiatives capable of implementation.
Identifies opportunities and proposes solutions to improve internal processes, services, and structures to support functional strategies.
Is comfortable with ambiguity, using advanced analytical and problem-solving techniques to resolve a wide range of non-standard problems.
Through experience, acts as a resource for colleagues cross-functionally.
Acts with innovation, identifying and devising solutions based on limited information and precedent, and following through on implementing the solution.

Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to SAP ERP
Exposure to Microsoft Power BI, KNIME analytics platform, and Hyperion applications is a plus
