About The Role
The Actuarial Controllership Manager position within the Finance organization plays a pivotal role in cross-function collaboration and will be highly visible to the Finance organization leadership including CRBG’s Controller, Actuarial Controller as well as the Chief Actuary. The Actuarial Controllership Manager will be responsible for coordinating control and audit matters with Financial Controls Unit (FCU), Internal Audit Group (IAG) and External Auditors.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced manager to drive our accounting operations for actuarial areas and to continue developing the actuarial controllership team with key focus on reporting accuracy, enhanced control environment, improved documentation and process improvement, and automation and simplification.
Responsibilities
  • Design and ensure operation of internal controls around the actuarially determined balances. Enhance controls documentation and operating effectiveness. Review EUC framework and compliance to corporate policy.
  • Coordinate documentation and control procedures for the experience studies with reserving actuaries, FCU, IAG and external auditors.
  • Support actuarial systems and processes implementations in progress which are part of the Finance and Actuarial Transformation Programs.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and US STAT. Implement consistent accounting policies and procedures at an operational level.
  • Ensure proper accounting and reporting of future policy benefits. Ensure proper reconciliations of inputs into the actuarial calculations and outputs thereof into the general ledger.
  • Drive the actuarial reporting requirements, timing and financial impact in advance of filing deadlines.
  • Produce high-quality and timely analysis supporting the reserve balances and rollforward of the balances.
  • External disclosures related to reserves and reserving methodologies, including SEC reporting on Form 10-K, 10-Q and any 8-K filings as well as US Statutory reporting
  • Perform GAAP to STAT analysis for future policy benefits.
  • Support any new accounting and disclosure standards.
  • Work closely with reinsurance operations and accounting, OAP, FCU and various other groups on accounting and reporting for significant reinsurance agreements
  • Continually improve processes to reduce cycle time and improve accuracy by measuring key performance indicators for critical processes, establishing processes and eliminating defects, and simplifying and automating where possible
  • Develop good interaction with Finance organization leadership team, reserving actuaries, reinsurance operations in addition to the various functions to drive best practice.
  • Manage a close working relationship with the external and internal auditors.
Skills and Qualifications
  • MUST HAVE Big 4 (or close to) or financial services experience
  • 5 or more years of professional accounting experience.
  • Degree in accounting; knowledge in actuarial process is a plus.
  • Life Insurance industry knowledge is a plus.
  • Collaborative work style.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and lead projects to completion.
  • Experience in a matrix work environment with competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

Work Location
If the position is based in one of Corebridge Financials' hub offices which is Houston, TX, Jersey City, NJ. or Woodland Hills, CA office the role is subject to our hybrid working policy, which gives colleagues the benefits of working both in an office and remotely. However, we are open to considering full remote candidates outside of these areas.
