The starting pay range for this position is $57,000-$65,000.00/annual, and final pay rate will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity factors. What you'll do
The copywriter works closely with the creative services leader and the marketing team in elevating the credit union’s voice and manifesting Canvas’ brand through written content. The ideal candidate has experience in various copywriting disciplines, such as brand-specific copywriting, website (SEO) copywriting, and social media copywriting. This individual will serve the organizational goals of Canvas by bridging the gap between marketing strategy and creative implementation. The successful candidate will help represent Canvas in accordance with Canvas’ brand standards and objectives to elevate Canvas’ presence through various channels.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Execute the written content of assigned projects.
- Develop memorable, unignorable creative concepts that further the Canvas brand.
- Work closely and cross-departmentally with other Canvas team members through the phases of a project.
- Apply strategic insights that solve assignments with creative ingenuity.
- Simultaneously accomplish a range of complex assignments with overlapping timelines, never sacrificing quality or commitment to excellence.
- Develop creative solutions that can be effectively applied to a wide range of mediums.
- Explore new mediums for Canvas to interact with audiences not currently being targeted while maintaining clear objectives on the purpose of any new venture and its alignment with Canvas’ overall brand objectives.
- Assist the digital marketing team with on-brand, SEO-driven webpage content and blog posts.
- Possess a keen eye for content creation for digital and print campaigns, website content, television, radio scripts, and so much more.
- Whether a digital ad, printed collateral, or apparel, we are looking for someone that enjoys getting to tell stories that resonate quickly with our target audience.
- Present and recommend new ways to express Canvas’ voice in our markets using imagery, video, sound, and others.
- Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements.
- Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard members and organization assets.
- Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Relevant writing samples that demonstrate skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 in a PC environment.
- Background in creative advertising and conceptual development.
- Ability to convey ideas that are cohesive, relevant, and valuable to the audience.
- Passion for purposeful word choice and sentence structure.
- Keen eye for details and accuracy.
- Ability to generate consistently outstanding creative concepts and solutions.
- Strong ability to work independently; able to foster teamwork, and influence others during the creative process.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; communicating clearly and succinctly.
- Strong organizational skills: ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated creativity and ability to think out of the box and drive change.
- Ability to maintain confidences.
Education or Formal Training: Relevant degree in journalism or marketing is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ professional copywriting experience.
Current Canvas employees must be meeting performance expectations and consistently demonstrating HEART behaviors to be considered.
Working Environment/Physical Activities
High volume, fast-paced, dynamic office environment with some travel. Must be able to attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. The position requires bending, stooping, or standing as necessary.
