Culinary Operations Manager Camden, NJ | Full-Time, Exempt | $65,000 – $70,000 per year
Cathedral Kitchen is a Camden-based nonprofit using food to change lives. Founded nearly 50 years ago, our mission is to help people overcome food insecurity and champion their pursuit of stability and prosperity. We do this through our daily meal program, Culinary Arts Training Program, contract meal production, and community-based food outreach initiatives.
We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Culinary Operations Manager to oversee purchasing, inventory, logistics, and culinary production coordination across our kitchens and programs. This hands-on leadership role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and plays a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient food operations that meet both client and community needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee food and supply purchasing for production kitchens and culinary training classes
- Manage product logistics, including scheduling pickups/deliveries and supervising drivers/porters
- Track inventory and contribute to culinary budgeting and cost control
- Liaise with chefs, kitchen teams, and community partners on donations, production, and outreach
- Maintain strong relationships with contract meal clients and ensure timely invoicing
- Step in for cooking/production as needed (e.g. vacations, high-volume days)
- Assist with menu development, meal scheduling, and adherence to nutritional guidelines
- Lead sanitation, food safety compliance, and reporting across all food operations
- Coordinate volunteer support, events like our weekly Market Stand, and special projects
- Contribute to staff coaching, training, and performance evaluations
What We’re Looking For
- Passion for our mission of helping people out of food insecurity
- 3+ years of experience in culinary production and kitchen management
- Culinary or hospitality degree preferred
- Institutional/large-scale food production experience a plus
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain it)
- Comfortable lifting 50 lbs and working in varied kitchen and outdoor environments
- Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office and online food ordering systems

Pay: $65,000 – $70,000 per year
Schedule: Full-time | Some weekend or evening flexibility will be required
