Job Title: Barista
Department: Iron Mountain Coffee Shop
Reports To: Shop Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Summary: A Barista is responsible for welcoming customers into Contrast Coffee with quality service and kindness. They will also be expected to serve quality beverages and food items to customers based on the customer's order and preferences. They are also required to take orders and payments as well as keep their work area, customer area, and equipment/tools clean and sanitized.
Hours and Availability:
We are looking for a barista who can work 15-20 hours with both weekday and weekend availability.
Compensation:
Estimated pay range of $14-$20/hour includes base pay plus expected tips per hour. Base pay starts at state minimum wage but can be higher depending on previous experience.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare and serve a variety of quality hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks
- Take customer orders and process payments using a Square POS system
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and making recommendations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and food prep areas
- Assist with food preparation, such as making sandwiches or crepes
- Restock supplies as needed
- Follow health and safety guidelines when handling food and beverages
- Upsell products and promote special offers to increase sales
Qualifications:

Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience in the food industry or as a barista is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and different coffee blends is a plus
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and retail math skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members
