Jacobsen Salt Co. seeks a full-time, non-exempt (estimated 40 hours/week) Delivery & Fulfillment Associate to support our operations and enhance our team. This position is responsible for contributing to all shipments and local deliveries from the company’s primary fulfillment site. The Delivery & Fulfillment Associate role requires an organized, detail-oriented teammate with a collaborative, outgoing personality.
Primary functions include:
- Pick and pack product orders, and prepare respective documentation for shipments and deliveries
- Adhere to order accuracy standards and ensure high quality condition of shipments and deliveries
- Deliver orders in company van(s) and box truck with liftgate to customer accounts
- Drive biweekly goods transport between Portland HQ and Netarts salt making facility
- Understand daily and weekly fulfillment deliverables, and strive to meet all deadlines and goals
- Ensure timely pickup of raw materials from company suppliers
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness, and uphold responsible driver safety guidelines while operating van(s) and box truck with liftgate; includes attending occasional vehicle service and maintenance appointments
- Contribute to wholesale and e-commerce order processing efforts; fulfill Will Call orders as needed
- Contribute to customer service and communication; this role will have some regular in-person interaction with customers
- Communicate promptly, thoroughly, constructively, and consistently with both direct supervisor and all co-workers
- Contribute to receiving, inventory control, and production efforts as needed
- Maintain delivery and pick up receipts until handed off to the appropriate department for filing
- Rigorously uphold company, state, and federal quality control and food safety standards and requirements
- Regularly and thoroughly clean equipment and workspaces
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills, characteristics and qualifications required:
- A high school graduate (or has a commensurate degree or certifications), who is at least 18 years old, with access to reliable transportation, a current valid driver’s license and a strong driving record
- An energetic, enthusiastic and collaborative team player; comfortable working both independently and under direct supervision
- Trustworthy, with a strong work ethic and high moral standards
- Detail-oriented with keen organizational and observational skills
- Able to perform basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Comfortable completing intermediate tasks on a computer, including navigating word processing, spreadsheets and email; experience with Shopify, ShipStation, and Quickbooks is preferred
- Comfortable with basic hand tool use, some machine setup and equipment operation
- Forklift certification is preferred; JSC has an in-house trainer for company certification
- Able to read, understand and communicate operational and safety information in English
- Able to work in an environment when food allergens may be present
- Someone with previous experience working in fulfillment, either in shipping, delivery, or preferably both

Essential physical functions:
- Able to both stand and sit for several hours at a time (position requires walking or standing for long periods, up to 90% of the shift; coast transports require sitting continuously for up to three-hour stretches)
- Able to climb ladders and stairs, squat, kneel, reach overhead and walk on uneven surfaces
- Position requires the ability to work in a variable temperature, fast-paced warehouse environment
- Fully capable of lifting, pushing and pulling 20-55lbs (frequent) and 56-250lbs (occasional)
- Position requires moving 200-300lbs barrels a few feet using dollies and/or a back-and-forth rocking motion
- Position requires moving palletized goods weighing up to 2000lbs with proper equipment
- Good physical dexterity required tasks and movements requiring fine motor skills are common and frequent
Typical weekly schedule:
- Shift Hours: 8am - 4:30pm
- Shift Length: 8 hours
- Five consecutive days: Monday-Friday
- Overtime hours possible as necessitated by business operations
- This full-time, non-exempt position works out of Jacobsen’s production facility in SE Portland, Oregon

- Fulfillment Lead and Senior Customer Service Manager
Starting hourly rate for this position is $19.00/hour. Benefits include paid time off and paid company holidays, as well as eligibility for health/dental/vision benefits after 60 days and 401(k) after one year.
