Job Description
Medical Assistant position in a dermatology practice to assist with clinical, procedural, and administrative tasks in support of the highest level of care provided by our dermatologist. Familiarity with dermatology is highly desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
The position will involve all aspects of dermatologic patient care, including scheduling and keeping track of appointments, checking insurance eligibility, check in/check out of patients, room patients and take a focused history of present illness and review of systems, assist the physician in the room, help counsel patients, answer patient phone calls, call patients with results, schedule surgeries, assist with surgeries, pre-cert surgeries, stock rooms, maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols, work cooperatively with the other staff, compassionately care about patients.
Some college education is highly desirable.
Ideal candidate is able to: Put aside the smartphone all day; Observe, learn, practice, and master essential dermatologic skills; Does not feel overwhelmed easily; De-escalate tense patient situations with levity; Accept constructive criticism to recognize, admit, and correct mistakes/errors; Recognize scheduling patterns to ensure patients are given timely appointments; Tolerate the sight of blood; Work proficiently on the iPad and desktop computers; Learn the dermatology EMR (we utilize EMA); Scribe during a patient visit; Remain focused at work; Commit to the hours and show up to work as scheduled.
Our clinic hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Some Wednesday hours will be requested.
