Job Title: Dietary Technician – Long-Term Care FacilityPosition Summary:
The Dietary Technician is responsible for managing and processing residents' dietary orders, ensuring meal plans align with individual nutritional needs and preferences. Collaborating closely with Registered Dietitians (RDs), nursing staff, and food service teams, the Dietary Technician plays a pivotal role in enhancing residents' health and dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dietary Order Management:
- Accurately process and update residents' dietary orders, including therapeutic and texture-modified diets, in accordance with physician directives and RD guidelines.
- Assist residents with menu selections, ensuring choices comply with prescribed diets and personal preferences.
- Resident Interaction:
- Engage with residents and their families to gather dietary preferences, allergies, and cultural or religious dietary considerations.
- Provide basic nutrition education to residents and families as directed
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with RDs, nursing staff, and food service personnel to implement and adjust meal plans based on residents' health status and feedback.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings to discuss and update residents' nutritional care plans.
- Monitoring and Documentation:
- Observe and document residents' food intake, reporting significant changes or .
- Maintain accurate records of dietary orders, menu selections, and nutrition-related communications in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standard
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and dietary management software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition care processes.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Work is performed in a healthcare setting with exposure to food preparation areas.
