Summary: Under the direction of the Patient Services Manager or Assistant Director, performs essential food and nutrition duties associated with patient menu selection, tray and nourishment distribution, meal tray assembly and set up. Delivery of par stock to patient and ancillary departments. Primary person in responsible for operation of kitchen in absence of management.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Previous Nutrition Assistant experience required. Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets and back of the house kitchen operations.

Skills & Abilities: Ability to delegate tasks and monitor completion. Knowledge of sanitation and safety standardsSkills in organization and priority setting. Manual dexterity and motor coordination. Basic Computer skills. Ability to analyze problems and resolve them in a manner consistent with management expectations. Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers. Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines. Ability to objectively communicate the needs of the department and performance of peers to management. Ability to work hands on to assist in kitchen closing tasks as required. Ability to properly document and maintain department logs for management. Acts as a professional liaison between management and peers. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism during high pressure situations. Motivation and self-direction. Professional accountability. Conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Kitchen or cafeteria environment which includes potentially wet floors, brief exposure to high and low temperature equipment, sharp objects, tools and machinery. Must meet annual safety training requirements relative to a safe work place ensuring patient, staff and visitor safety. Ability to stand for up to 90 minutes at one time; ability to walk, sit, hear, speak, bend and reach. Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 50 lbs.

Schedule: Full Time regular (64-80 hrs), Varied Shift, 11:00 am-7:30 pm
