Director, Software EngineeringDirector, Software Engineering
As a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you'll work on implementing some of the technology advanced products using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful microservices, to back-end Java based systems and Machine learning models using the latest techniques in Big Data. You'll bring solid experience in both emerging and traditional technologies.

In this role at Risk Tech, you will work with our internal Audit team to provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to help build best-in-class products for capital one. You will be a thought leader in this space to ensure we are building a world class product that is scalable, resilient, multi-tenant and can support a variety of use cases.
You will be responsible to lead the teams with setting up the right vision, best in the industry engineering culture and developer experience. You will also closely partner with product partners and other stakeholders to define the strategy that will position Audit products to be the best in class product for enterprise users. Additionally, you will provide mentorship and strategic guidance to your direct reports helping them grow in their career at Capital One.

You Will
Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product focused software & data engineers
Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open-source products across all platforms
Work to modernize our existing tech stacks and data platforms
Collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and machine learning
Partner with architects, product owners, data professionals, and software & data engineers to drive the implementation of new applications
Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies
Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments and provide operational support for the applications
Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 7 years’ experience in software development
At least 5 years’ experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering
10+ years’ of experience in software development
5+ years’ of experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Cambridge, MA: $263,900 - $301,200 for Director, Software Engineering
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
