Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable, courteous, and physically capable Donation Pickup Driver to join our team. This role involves operating a vehicle with an attached trailer to pick up donated items—often including heavy furniture and multiple boxes from community members. The ideal candidate will represent our organization with professionalism and care, ensuring a positive experience for donors and customers alike.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive a company vehicle with an attached trailer to scheduled donation pickup locations.
- Offer tax-deductible donation forms to donors.
- Safely load, secure, and transport donated items, including heavy furniture and multiple boxes.
- Maintain a polite, respectful, and professional demeanor with all donors.
- Trips to the dump and the scrap metal yard may be necessary at times.
Store Operations:
- Unload donations at the store and assist with sorting and staging items.
- Move and set up furniture displays within the store as directed.
- Assist customers with loading purchased furniture into their vehicles.
- Assist as needed throughout the store, including the store donation drop-off area.
Vehicle & Equipment Care:
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs.
- Ensure the trailer and all equipment are used safely and maintained in good condition.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving with a trailer and handling large or heavy items.
- Ability to lift and move heavy furniture and boxes, up to 75 lbs.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Environment:
- Frequent lifting, bending, and physical activity.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions during pickups and deliveries.
- Interaction with a diverse range of donors and customers.
