Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Drivers Helper to assist our delivery team in ensuring efficient and timely transportation of goods. The ideal candidate will work closely with drivers to load and unload cargo, navigate routes, and provide excellent customer service. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our delivery services.
Responsibilities
- Assist drivers in loading and unloading freight from commercial vehicles, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols are followed.
- Help navigate delivery routes, providing support in route planning and adjustments as needed.
- Communicate effectively with the driver and warehouse staff to ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and loading area.
- Perform basic vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues to the driver.
- Support the driver in managing paperwork related to deliveries, including receipts and delivery confirmations.
Skills
- Experience in commercial driving or delivery driving is preferred.
- Familiarity with various types of vehicles including box trucks, flatbeds, dump trucks, and tractor-trailers.
- Mechanical knowledge to assist with basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment safely.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
- Experience in warehouse operations or freight handling is a plus.
- Knowledge of route driving principles and experience with shuttle or paratransit services is beneficial.
