Job Description
We’re looking for someone who wants to grow and learn the trade! The Electrical Helper works directly under the supervision of and assists a qualified Apprentice, Journeyman or Master Electrician in the crew’s daily tasks through setup, maintenance, and breakdown of jobsites, preparation and maintenance of crew tools, supplies, truck and machinery, as well as taking ownership for and promoting crew and individual jobsite safe behaviors and AOS core values – all while learning the basics of electrical work. Key responsibilities include the safe execution of projects while exceeding expectations for quality, productivity and customer satisfaction. Electrical Helpers demonstrate an eagerness to learn and share knowledge, grow in their profession, act through integrity and respect, and contribute to collaborative team environments.
Position Details
- The main office is located at 1224 Two Notch Rd, Lexington, SC 29073 **Depending on job needs and availability, you may be required to work out of town several weeks throughout the year. Transportation, housing and meals are provided**
- Full-Time Positions only, M-F, 40+ hour weeks
- Starting pay based on experience and qualifications, range starting at $17.00/hour
- Merit-based raises in first 3 months
- $1,500.00 Sign-on bonus paid in installments based on merit throughout first year
Essential Duties
- Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold conditions year-round 10+ hours per day
- Ability to repetitively kneel, bend and lift up to 50 pounds utilizing safe lifting techniques
- AOS is a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Electrical Helper Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates and promotes safe behaviors, wears required PPE at all times and follows the AOS Position Safety Guidelines provided and reviewed at orientation and throughout training
- Considers work to be performed to identify potential safety hazards and either eliminates the hazard or reports the problem to the supervising electrician for resolution prior to beginning work
- Demonstrates personal accountability for individual and team safe behaviors/tool safety, quality of work, collaboration and productivity
- Sets up and prepares site for the workday – including the materials, parts, crew truck and the jobsite
- Supports end of day activities and prepares the work area in an organized manner in preparation for the next workday, or the next crew – including jobsite and AOS materials yard
- Maintains a clean work area through organization and storage of tools and materials to minimize risk of injury and damage to company and customer assets.
- Arrives on time and notifies supervisor in advance of personal time off
- Supports daily equipment and truck checks for their crew through direct ownership of necessary tasks or provides assistance as needed

Electrical Helper Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic knowledge on bending pipe and pulling wire
- Seeks and accepts feedback on performance and contributes to a communicative environment
- Demonstrates a strong problem-solving “How can we” attitude and a willingness to learn team and company processes
- Demonstrates consistent effort
- Ability to work self-directed
- Ability to communicate and report effectively with crew/supervising electrician
Education, Training and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Resume and/or 1 letter of recommendation preferred
- Fluency in English reading, writing and comprehension; Spanish a plus
- First Aid/CPR certification a plus
