The top half of the posted salary range is generally reserved for candidates who exceed the requirements and qualifications for the role. The maximum salary range is reserved for candidates that far exceed the required and preferred qualifications for the role.

​Position Overview 
​​
​​The Executive Assistant II (EA II) provides high-level administrative support to the Deputy Associate Commissioner to the Department of State Board of Education (SBOE) and other department Directors as assigned. The EA will be responsible for complex assignments, with moderate supervision, covering an array of subject matters requiring attention to detail. The position will help prepare for, arrange and coordinate meetings on behalf of department staff and SBOE members with agency program staff, internal leadership and external agencies and stakeholders. Other duties will require management, organization and preparation of sensitive and/or confidential correspondence.  The EA will support the department in an effort to improve SBOE member support and increase administrative efficiencies for both internal and external SBOE stakeholders.​ 

The Executive Assistant may work a hybrid schedule, requiring partial in-office presence. The nature of this role requires seasonal presence in Austin during State Board of Education (SBOE) meetings and legislative session, as well as additional dates as requested.

Essential Functions 
Job duties are not limited to the essential functions mentioned below. You may perform other functions as assigned.

1. General Administrative Support: Provides general administrative support to the Deputy Associate Commissioner as assigned including scheduling, notetaking, travel arrangements, expense reimbursement filings, Human Resource paperwork, meeting preparation, and correspondence. 
  
2. Meeting Preparation and Scheduling: Prepares meeting materials, creates deck presentations, drafts summary documents and collects resources in advance of scheduled meetings. Responsible for sending calendar invitations and communicating with meeting participants before and after meetings. Ensures meeting participants have access to Teams and/or Zoom communications and corresponds with various internal program staff, agency leadership, external stakeholders and SBOE members to execute a successful meeting.

3. Communication and Correspondence: ​Communicates on behalf of DAC with department and agency staff as needed and assists with SBOE member incoming and outgoing correspondence. Works closely with department Project Manager to ensure the tracking and timeliness of SBOE member correspondence response times. 

4. General Department Support:​ Executes duties related to the organization, preparation and logistical needs of SBOE general meetings, special meetings, committee meetings, ad hoc committee meetings and other department events and/or activities as assigned.  

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university     
• Experience: At least three (​3​) years of experience in ​administrative or executive level support​ 
• Substitutions: ​Education and experience may substitute for one another on a year-for-year basis.​
