About the Organization
Family Crisis Center of Bastrop is a nonprofit organization committed to ending domestic violence and sexual assault in Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette, and Lee counties. We provide essential services including a 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, and prevention education.
Each year, we serve hundreds of survivors and their families by offering safety, support, and pathways to long-term stability. Our work is grounded in trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and equity-based practices. We believe that everyone has the right to live free from violence.
Position Summary
The Family Crisis Center is seeking a results-oriented Executive Director with strong management skills to lead a dedicated team of 60 staff and oversee programs that support survivors of domestic and sexual violence across Central Texas. This is a highly engaged leadership role, responsible for ensuring the organization’s operational strength, financial health, and strategic growth.
The Executive Director leads fundraising—including major gifts, grants, and donor engagement—and oversees the strategy and operations of the mission-driven thrift store. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in nonprofit management, team leadership, and resource development. This position requires a confident, compassionate leader who can balance vision with execution and inspire collaboration across staff, board, and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth
- Develop and drive the strategic plan with vision and discipline, aligning long-term goals with innovation, operational growth, and measurable results.
- Foster a trauma-informed, inclusive culture built on respect, transparency, and high performance.
- Maintain a visible presence at all program sites, demonstrating accessibility, active support, and a commitment to staff engagement.
Fundraising & Financial Sustainability
- Lead and implement a dynamic, multi-channel fundraising strategy—including individual giving, grants, sponsorships, events, and earned income—that drives immediate revenue and supports long-term organizational growth.
- Oversee the Family Crisis Center retail thrift store’s performance and integrate its success into the organization’s financial strategy and mission.
- Build donor relationships through strategic cultivation and timely stewardship.
- Ensure financial sustainability through strong budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
External Relations & Communications
- Serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson and public advocate, advancing the mission through public engagement, coalition participation, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead external communications that build brand trust, strengthen partnerships, and amplify mission impact.
- Effectively communicate strategic goals and priorities across all stakeholder groups.
Operations & Internal Management
- Oversee core operations to ensure safety, stability, and compliance across HR, IT, facilities, and risk management.
- Build a positive and effective workplace through clear processes, collaboration, leadership growth, and shared accountability.
- Address challenges proactively with fairness, clarity, and a solutions-oriented approach.
Program Oversight & Innovation
- Ensure programs meet funder requirements, adhere to best practices, and reflect survivor-centered values.
- Oversee program evaluation and champion continuous improvement to ensure services are data-informed, grant-compliant, and designed to expand reach and deepen impact.
Board Relations & Governance
- Maintain a strong, transparent relationship with the Board of Directors.
- Engage board members in strategic planning, development, and governance.
- Support board development and provide timely updates on progress, risks, and opportunities.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years in senior nonprofit leadership with staff and budget oversight.
- Proven success in fundraising, including major gifts, grants, and donor engagement, with a track record of generating new revenue and improving financial performance.
- Strong financial planning, budgeting, and compliance experience.
- Proven ability to think strategically, lead organizational change, scale impact, and align programs with mission and goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort engaging diverse audiences.
- Willingness to travel regionally and work some evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Social Work, or related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of domestic and sexual violence, trauma-informed care, and survivor-centered practices.
- Familiarity with VOCA, VAWA, HUD, and state DV/SA funding structures.
- Experience working in rural or underserved communities.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $90,000 – $105,000, commensurate with experience
Health Insurance: 80% employer-paid premium
Dental & Vision Insurance: Available to all employees
Paid Time Off:
- PTO: Starts Day 1 at 8 hours/month
- Holidays: 15 paid holidays annually, plus a paid day off on your birthday
