Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Duties Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area by ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for use.
- Perform chairside assisting duties while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Take and develop X-rays as needed, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Practiceworks for patient documentation and record-keeping.
- Maintain accurate medical records, including medical documentation and coding as required.
- Monitor vital signs and provide support in pediatric dentistry settings when necessary.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Assist with the management of dental clinic operations, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
Requirements
- Previous experience in dental assisting or a related field is preferred; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Proficiency with EMR systems (Eaglesoft, Dentrix) and familiarity with medical imaging techniques.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform four-handed dentistry effectively while maintaining focus on patient comfort.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and team members professionally.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience with medical records management and familiarity with Epic systems is advantageous.

Pay: $20.50 - $28.14 per hour
