Are you an experienced Cement Mason looking for an opportunity to work on highway, roadway, and underground utility construction projects? As a Cement Mason, you’ll be responsible for shaping and finishing concrete for roads and infrastructure. Your tasks will include reading grade and elevations from surveys, setting string lines, such as screed pins, curb forms, and gutter forms, to ensure accurate alignment. You will also work on rodding, spreading, and tamping concrete, applying curing compounds, and using push floats, hand trowels, and hand floats to achieve a smooth finish.
In addition, you’ll assist with edging, brooming, brushing, chipping, stoning, patching, and sacking to refine surfaces and maintain quality standards. Other duties include dry packing, spreading, and finishing concrete, all while ensuring compliance with city ordinances.
Key Responsibilities:
ü Inspect concrete forms to ensure they are properly constructed and capacity to hold the correct amount of cement to complete a job.
ü Distribute, level, and smooth concrete efficiently using shovels, floats, rakes, trowels, and screeds.
ü Monitor how heat, cold and wind affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process.
ü Shape expansion edges and joints precisely using jointers, a straightedge, and edging tools.
ü Set forms designed to hold concrete to desired depth and pitch while aligning them.
ü Guide the cement truck driver to park accurately and position the chute for precise concrete placement.
Job Requirements:
ü 5 years previous experience as a cement mason.
ü High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
ü Clean driving record (required).
ü Strong knowledge of mixing, pouring, finishing and selecting concrete.
ü Strong physical fitness – ability to lift heavy objects.
ü Good communication skills.
ü Punctuality and reliability – consistent attendance is essential.
ü Flexible schedule and availability.
