Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician I responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the Credit Union's facilities, equipment, and grounds. This position ensures that all locations are safe, clean, and operational to support an excellent member and employee experience.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Level I:
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on building systems, equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
- Assist with monitoring and upkeep of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and report issues or safety concerns to Facilities leadership.
- Support preventative maintenance schedules and recordkeeping.
- Assist in maintaining building security systems (access control, alarms, cameras) under supervision.
- Respond to service requests from staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, storage spaces, and mechanical rooms.
- Assist with coordination of vendors and contractors during repair or service visits.
- Perform basic grounds keeping tasks such as trash removal, light landscaping, and snow/ice management (as applicable).
- Support set-up and tear-down of furniture, equipment, and supplies for meetings, training, and events.
- Adhere to Credit Union policies, safety procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Assists with the audits and maintenance of SDS compliance and record keeping.
- Assists with asset management and annual audits.
- Assist with the transport, storage and audits in compliance with DNCUs records retention policy.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, regulations and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Level II (To include Level I responsibilities):
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building systems, equipment, and fixtures (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, lighting, and security systems).
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory standards.
- Respond to service requests and resolve facility-related issues across the organization.
- Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors and contractors; verify quality and completion of services.
- Assist with space planning, furniture setup, branch moves, and small construction/renovation projects.
- Maintain facility work order system, documenting repairs, inspections, and project status.
- Support branch staff with minor IT/AV setup, office moves, and troubleshooting equipment as needed.
- Performs annual audit of DNCU’s physical assets.
- Monitor and restock maintenance supplies, tools, and parts inventory.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, fire/life safety, and credit union policies.
- Address facility needs promptly and professionally while providing excellent service.
- Assist with the transport, storage and audits in compliance with DNCUs records retention policy.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $19.32 - $24.15 an hour. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a rate between the range minimum and the range maximum, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
Level II:
The salary range for this position is $21.52 - $26.90 an hour. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a rate between the range minimum and the range maximum, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

Requirements
Experience:
Level1:
1'2 years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, construction, or related field preferred.
Level II:
Three years to five years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field. Experience supporting multiple locations strongly preferred.
Education:
Level I:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Level II :
High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certifications preferred.

Courtesy, tact, trust and diplomacy are essential elements of the position. Work involves personal contact with others inside or outside of the organization for the purpose of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Other Skills:
• Basic understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment.
• Good communication skills and a customer service mindset.
• Ability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and complete work with attention to detail.
• Requires current valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
Work Environment:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with frequent exposure to various weather, dust, noise and occasional hazardous conditions. Must have availability for occasional evening, weekend, or emergency response work when needed.
