Facility Inpatient Multispecialty Coder - Trauma Level 1

We’re actively seeking talented Facility Coders with 3+ years of experience and valid CPC or CCS to join our dedicated team.
Job Description:
This position plays an important role at CodingAID. The Facility Inpatient Coder is responsible for reviewing medical records to identify diagnosis and procedures, as well as diagnostic and operative information. In addition, the Facility Inpatient Coder reviews DRG discrepancies to ensure appropriate DRG assignment.
Other responsibilities include accurately entering data into client software and/or Excel reports. Performing accurate coding using applicable guidelines and client protocols and communicating with clients and/or providers as needed. Provide written feedback of coding results as needed in the form of comments, summary findings and recommendations. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and standards related to health information and coding principles. Communicate with Project Manager as needed (i.e. schedule changes, daily assignments/work volume, coding questions, etc.).

Job Requirements:
To meet the needs of this role, we request candidates with the following qualifications apply:
- Must be a certified coder with valid CCS or CPC
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience required of inpatient trauma coding for medical services for a Trauma Level 1 Facility
- Requires advanced technical knowledge in specific facility surgical and medical specialties as assigned, including trauma, transplants, burns and high dollar accounts.
- A minimum of three years’ experience required abstracting ICD-10-CM/PCS, present on admission indicators (“POA”), APR-DRG & MS-DRG, HCPCS, CPT, Modifiers & APC assignment.
- Requires strong experience using classification systems.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience in researching and applying coding rules and regulations.
- Must have experience with data entry of codes into a database and/or software tool.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems. Experience with Epic and 3M preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Have a positive, respectful attitude.
