Job Title: Farm Supply Manager

Division: North Coast

Department: Ukiah Farm Supply

Reports To: North Coast Retail Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary : Responsible for maintaining excellent customer service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations, overseeing staff and providing input and then monitoring the operating budget. Also responsible for inventory, taking and relaying calls from customers and employees, and dispatching drivers to deliver product while maintaining the equipment and on-site operations by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages maintaining sufficient inventory at the best possible price and delivery time by working with key staff and vendors. *
  • Prepare sales and expense forecasts monthly within company objectives. Develops the annual budget to monitor monthly progress and to budget for capital expenditures. *
  • Resolves or provides guidance regarding operational, delivery, customer, or any additional efficiency problems that require immediate attention. *
  • Maintains required margins. *
  • Stay abreast of vendor programs and policies. *
  • Manages/acts as liaison between the company and vendors concerning orders and special-order promotions and maintains positive company relations. *
  • Promote sales through advertising, counter sales, display merchandising and direct customer contact. *
  • Participate in community events. *
  • Maintains a professional office environment and promotes a positive image for the company. *
  • Manages upkeep of facility, equipment and fleet. *
  • Manages and controls the daily activities of the Farm Supply location. *
  • Responds to customer inquiries and complaints in a prompt manner. *
  • Manages/Provides quotations to customers as requested. *
  • Supervises Loading and unloading delivery trailers/trucks by hand or with material handling equipment as needed
  • Selects product lines to stock and market. *
  • Inventory stock and reorder when inventory drops to a specified level. *
  • Examine products purchased for resale or received for storage to assess the condition of each product or item. *
  • Estimate consumer demand and determine the types and amounts of goods to be sold. *
  • Responsible for marketing and display of various product lines.*
  • Supervise employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, or in performing services for customers. *
  • Instruct staff on how to handle difficult and complicated sales. *
  • Formulate pricing policies for merchandise, according to profitability requirements.*
  • Create ways to collaborate with other Grow West locations and services. *
  • Create theft mitigation measures with continued auditing of practices. *
  • Responsible for monitoring and reviewing surveillance video footage. *
  • Create strategy on slow-moving inventory items. *
  • Works evenings and/or weekends as required, especially during a declared emergency situation.
  • Develops, maintains, and enforces location-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). *
  • Serve at the locations Pest Control Dealer Designated Agent by obtaining the appropriate license. *
  • Comply with company policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations. Ensure that all employees receive proper safety training and adhere to such safety practices. *
  • Responsible for physical inventory management, including weekly and monthly inventory counts and reconciliation with computer balances. *
  • Work alongside the Grow West Human Resources team to foster a collaborative team approach. *
  • Support team member recruitment, retainment, and development of employees. *
  • Communicate the Grow West strategy and associated goals with staff. *
  • Act as a mentor in overall career development of the staff. *
  • As part of an overall performance management plan, conduct annual performance reviews for all staff. *
  • Provide coaching and feedback to employees throughout the year. *
  • Address poor performance with progressive discipline and use of performance improvement plans. *
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly manages Operations Manager and is responsible for overall staff. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Merchant Ag; Microsoft Edge; MapQuest; Product Label Searches (MSDS) and Paycom.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and prior work-related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
