Summary:
The Contingency Driver is responsible for covering delivery routes when regular drivers are unavailable. This role involves the efficient and safe operation of delivery vehicles, ensuring timely delivery and pick-up of packages, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Route Coverage: Cover assigned delivery routes for regular drivers as needed, ensuring all packages are delivered and picked up on time.
- Package Handling: Load, unload, and sort packages in the delivery vehicle.
- Customer Service: Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, providing information and assistance as needed.
- Vehicle Operation: Safely operate delivery vehicles in compliance with traffic regulations and company policies.
- Documentation: Complete required documentation for package delivery and pick-up accurately and promptly.
- Maintenance: Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks, reporting any issues to management.
- Adherence to Safety: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in delivery driving with FEDEX GROUND.
- Licenses: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- DOT physical.
- Skills:
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to [insert weight limit], typically around 50-75 lbs).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to navigate using GPS and maps, and ground cloud.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull packages of various weights and sizes.
- Prolonged periods of driving, standing, and walking.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
Work Environment:
- The position involves working in a fast-paced environment with tight delivery schedules.
- The job may require early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work hours.
