Summary:
We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled Fiber Optics Technology Systems (FOTS) Technician to join our floating crew. This is a 100% travel position, with assignments across various geographical locations within the United States, often aligning with FAA regional boundaries.

In this role, you'll be instrumental in supporting the FAA Airport Cable Loop (ACL) Program. Your responsibilities will include conducting airport surveys to outline existing copper paths and identify new routes for fiber optic cable installation. Beyond surveys, you'll also be responsible for installing the new fiber network, specifically the Dedicated Network Telecommunications System (DNTS).

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong understanding of electronics and communications systems. You should also be able to perform a wide range of physical installation tasks. While not initially a direct lead role, this position offers significant opportunities for growth and leadership as you gain experience and demonstrate your capabilities. You'll serve as a valuable on-site resource, interfacing directly with the FAA and potentially guiding installation teams.

Why Join Crown?

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive surveys: You'll map existing airport cable loops, identifying manholes, conduits, and building entry points to inform new fiber optic path designs.

Install new fiber optic solutions: This is a core part of the role. You'll be involved in trenching and conduit work to lay the groundwork for new fiber runs. You'll also be responsible for polishing and terminating fiber optic connectors to ensure optimal signal transmission, and commissioning equipment to bring the new network online.

Collaborate and communicate: You'll work closely with team members, field engineers, airport personnel, FAA technicians, and various contractors/vendors.

Ensure safety and compliance: Adherence to all airport badging, TSA, and security requirements, including confined space protocols, is paramount. For intermediate levels, you'll be a point of contact for confined space needs, and as a Team Lead, you'll coordinate all crew badging and training.

Maintain equipment: You'll manage inventory and ensure proper calibration and repair of FOTS survey equipment (primarily a Team Lead responsibility).

Report progress: You'll provide regular status updates (daily, weekly, or monthly depending on your role) to team leads and program managers.

Lead and direct (Team Lead): If you're a Team Lead, you'll oversee survey progress, manage budgetary issues, coordinate crew badging and training, and direct work assignments in support of the lead engineer's scope of work.

Successful Candidates will be:

Team players: You thrive in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment.

Physically fit: You're able to perform demanding fieldwork, including working in confined spaces.

Detail-oriented: You're capable of reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and GIS survey prints.

Flexible: You're willing to travel 100% of the time for project assignments.

Safety-conscious: You're committed to adhering to all safety regulations, especially confined space requirements.
