We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Field Sampling Technician to support environmental sampling and data collection efforts. This role involves collecting water, soil, and/or waste samples from various field locations, often under strict regulatory and quality assurance protocols. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions, following technical procedures, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities:
- Collect environmental samples (e.g., groundwater, surface water, wastewater, soil, sediment, air) according to approved protocols.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain sampling and field monitoring equipment.
- Accurately complete chain-of-custody forms, field logs, and sample documentation.
- Prepare samples for transport to laboratory under proper preservation and handling protocols.
- Follow safety procedures, site-specific health & safety plans, and environmental regulations.
- Communicate with project managers and lab personnel regarding site activities and findings.
- Assist with field investigations, equipment setup, and occasional laboratory support as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of field sampling or related environmental experience.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Comfortable with computers/tablets for electronic documentation and GPS data collection.
- Familiarity with EPA or NELAC sampling protocols a plus.
