Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fire Protection Sprinkler Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating accurate and code-compliant fire sprinkler system designs to support seamless installation and operation. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, field teams, and permitting authorities to ensure deliverables meet both technical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed sprinkler system layouts and drawings using CAD software.
- Interpret project documentation, including work orders, building plans, and specifications.
- Calculate system dimensions and resizing data based on design requirements.
- Prepare drawings and documentation for permitting and internal approvals.
- Conduct thorough checks to verify part dimensions, materials, tolerances, and assembly logic.
- Revise drawings based on design updates, construction constraints, or customer feedback.
- Draft multi-view, technical drawings for fabrication and field installation.
- Ensure all design work aligns with NFPA 13, applicable codes, and internal quality standards.
- Participate in construction coordination and survey activities as needed.
- Present technical concepts and layouts to internal stakeholders or clients when required.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- One-year technical certificate or associate degree in drafting/design preferred.
- 5–15 years of relevant experience designing fire sprinkler systems (including water, foam, and gas delivery systems).
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD design software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 13 and related fire protection codes.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Basic understanding of geometry and algebra for system calculations.
- NICET Level I certification is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and common-sense reasoning abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Experience conducting site surveys and understanding of field coordination practices.
- Ability to make technical presentations and explain designs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with permitting processes and compliance documentation.
