Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Fireproofer to join our team. As a fireproofer you will be responsible for applying fireproofing materials to various structures and surfaces to enhance fire resistance and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of fireproofing techniques, materials, and safety protocols. As a fireproofer, you will be responsible for applying spray fireproofing and intumescent paint on assigned jobs. Fireproofers are also in charge of maintaining their equipment and tools. Fireproofers are required to work on non-fireproofing jobs and around the warehouse and building grounds as needed.
Duties
- Apply fireproofing materials and intumescent paint to structural steel, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces as per specifications
- Prepare surfaces for application by cleaning, sanding, or priming as necessary
- Mix and apply fireproofing compounds according to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards
- Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure quality and compliance with safety regulations
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and work completed
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working on-site
- Operate all equipment safely
- Keep work area clean
- Complete tasks in and around the office and warehouse
- Learn general carpentry and other relevant skills on the job
- Help deliver supplies to job sites
- Additional tasks as assigned
Skills
- At least two years of previous applied fireproofing or similar experience
- Knowledge of fireproofing materials and application techniques
- Familiarity with safety regulations related to fire protection
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials as needed
- Stamina to stand and walk for 8 or more hours
- Comfortable with frequent bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and crawling
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs - potentially while carrying heavy materials or equipment
- Tolerance to work in various weather conditions which may include extreme heat or cold
- Ability to work in dusty environments
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with team members
- Problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during application.
